The Hive at Estes Park Brewery

About

After a day on the trails in Rocky Mountain National Park, The Hive at Estes Park Brewery is a solid place to refuel. The brewery's roots go back to 1993, when Gordon Knight founded High Country Brewery in Boulder and Ed Grueff opened an event center in Estes Park. The two joined forces in 1994 to launch the Estes Park Brewery, starting with a small 4¼-barrel brewhouse and four beers: Estes Park Porter, Estes Park Renegade, Longs Peak Raspberry Wheat, and Estes Park Pale Ale.

Tyler Lemirande and Eric Bratrud took ownership in 2003, and by 2013 Lemirande became sole owner, steering the brewery into a new chapter. That included a rebrand and the opening of The Hive in 2025, with a menu of creative handhelds, Roman-style pizzas, appetizers, and entree specialties built to pair with the house beers and a full bar.

Vibe

The rustic wooden facade fits right into the Colorado landscape. Inside, exposed beams, warm lighting, and a mix of high-tops and booths keep things comfortable without being fussy. Bar seating puts you close to the action, the dining room works well for families, and some spots look directly into the brewing area. When the weather cooperates, the outdoor patio opens up with mountain views worth lingering over.

Menu & Drinks

The appetizers are hearty enough to build a meal around. The Brewmaster's Brat Sampler brings three brats (elk, bison, and beer brat) with homemade pickles, tangy mustard, and fig jam. Pizzas use a Roman-style Pinsa crust with Bacio cheese, and the Truffle Mushroom with truffle oil, mushrooms, creamy garlic Alfredo, mozzarella, and Parmesan is a standout.

Burgers are made with Brave Heart Black Angus beef. The Sasquatch stacks two patties with bacon, sharp cheddar, caramelized onions, and stout BBQ sauce, and elk is available as a substitute for a small upcharge. The Classic Reuben with fries holds its own in the handheld lineup. For something more substantial, the Timberline Craft Filet is an 8-oz filet mignon, and the Brewmaster Mac & Cheese and Lager Fish & Chips cover the comfort food side.

Longs Peak Raspberry Wheat is a refreshing pour that pairs well with most of the menu. The full bar covers those who'd rather have a cocktail.
